Invitation to sustain by sponsorships and donations the DRT2022 conference “Geo-thinking the future planet: how traditional geosciences benefit from innovations”

Dear potential donor,

The European DRT Society (Deformation mechanisms, Rheology, and Tectonics) is an international scientific society that was founded in 2019 with the mission of supporting science, research, and students in the field of rock deformation on all scales, covering deformation mechanisms, rheology, and tectonics. The DRT is formed by geologists, experimentalists, and geo-modelers in order to promote understanding of the complex processes that cause rocks to deform. The society fulfills its mission by the organization of biennial scientific meetings.

For more than three decades, the DRT meeting has been one of the main forums in Europe where these different fields of study are brought together. Since its first edition, 22 DRT conferences have been organized around Europe, designed to provide a rigorous scientific basis for the understanding of rock deformation, tectonics, and microstructures.

23° DRT meeting provides a unique opportunity of bringing together specialists of all scales – from field geologists and experimentalists to theoretical modelers – to debate the problems and questions arising from natural structures and microstructures. The dialogue is encouraged on all scales of field, experimental and theoretical studies of rock deformation.

This year’s DRT International Meeting takes place in Catania (Italy) on July 5th – 7th  2022, with the theme “Geo-thinking the future planet: how innovations are improving traditional geoscience activities”.

The second circular of the DRT2022 conference with detailed information will be soon made available on this webpage: www.drt-society.org.

At these meetings, participants are encouraged to discuss all fields of research related to this field.

“The aim is to bring together people active in this field; not only geologists but also material scientists from other disciplines”

Lister et al., 1977

We need financial support to organize the meeting and workshop expenses. The purpose of DRT is to support science, research, and students in the field of rock deformation on all scales, covering deformation mechanisms, rheology, and tectonics. Several sponsors have already made a commitment to support this event.

Take part in this community, sustain our aims with a donation by following this weblink: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=7EUSGHQPE4VQN.

Thank you!

With warmest regards,

Eugenio Fazio (Secretary of the DRT-Society) on behalf of DRT-2022 Organizers
